German businesses underestimate the risk of cybercrime
Although the german legislator layed down restrictive measures to protect small- and medium-sized companies from criminal digital activities, studies conducted an enormous lack in IT-Security.
By now almost one business in ten got a victim of cybercrime between 2014 and today. The amount of damage ranges from 80.000€ to 500.000€. On average one incident caused a damage of 100.000€.
„Many of the small- and medium-sized businesses in germany are not able to appreciate the seriousness of the situation. Moreover, they don´t have the abilities to protect them properly“ – Peter Bartels, PwC
Especially companies from sectors like TelCo, media and logistics are far behind the fulfillment of minimal requirements of IT-Security.
The costs are increasing, the awareness unfortunately not.
